Rep. Steve Drazkowski took to Facebook to reassure Minnesota residents that the state cannot take away their firearms during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Drazkowski answered questions such as, "Gov. Walz declared a State of Emergency, can he seize firearms or prohibit firearm or ammunition sales?" and "Can a mayor or city council bar the sale of firearms in their city during this emergency?"
"In short: No. Prior to 2015, the Governor of Minnesota had that power. However, in 2015, our PAC was a part of a group of many allies, including GOCRA, the NRA, and many legislators that worked to get a law through the legislature that stripped the governor of this power. Gov. Dayton signed the bill into law that year. That law is now codified in MN Statute 624.7192, which you can read in full at this link: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/624.7192," Drazkowski said.
Drazkowski openly supports gun ownership and personal protection and has received a 100% rating by the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus.
