Cost of college went up for all students at Carleton College

Tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2018-19 at Carleton College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Minnesota students paid $54,759 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,977 more than the $52,782 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 80 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 302 students received grants or scholarships totaling $11 million and 216 students took out student loans totaling more than $972,502.

Including all undergraduates (2,097), 1,277 students used grants or scholarships totaling $46.4 million, and 909 students took out $4.7 million in federal student loans.
