CITY OF CLEVELAND: Cleveland Businesses Get Extra Boost: Small Business COVID Grants Open In Le Sueur County Sept. 14

Opencome

City of Cleveland issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.

Small businesses in Le Sueur County may apply for its recovery fund program meant to assist businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and they will have less than two weeks to apply.

Grants up to $10,000 are offered to small businesses which have a physical location in Le Sueur County. The application period opens Monday, Sept. 14 and closes Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. Business owners may use the funds for expenses such as payroll, rent or mortgage payments, utilities and payments to suppliers.

Small businesses within the limits of the City of Cleveland will get an extra boost as the city is committing $40,000 to the pool. However, Cleveland businesses still must apply to the program through the county.

Le Sueur County’s Board of Commissioners is offering the recovery fund program. The board urges eligible businesses to apply for these state funds. The fund will be administered by NextStage, a non-profit providing technical assistance and support to small businesses and entrepreneurs. The county has a $500,000 fund. It is hoped some county cities will also participate which will expand opportunity for businesses in those cities.

To be eligible, a small business must demonstrate its operations have been directly and adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the State of Minnesota Executive Orders 20- 04 and 20-08. Businesses must also have a physical location within the county, have employed between 1-20 full-time employees as of March 1, 2020, be under $1 million in annual revenue, and have been operating for at least 6 months prior to March 1, 2020. Program guidelines and a full list of eligibility requirements is available at the county’s website, www.co.le-sueur.mn.us.

If applications exceed the funding available, NextStage will select grant recipients using a lottery system, and applicants will be notified by email on or before Oct. 16, 2020, for further action.

Questions about the grant program can be directed to Le Sueur County LSCSmallBusiness@co.le-sueur.mn.us.
