City of Cannon Falls issued the following announcement on Jan. 29.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an information open house on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in Cannon Falls to learn about a construction project on Hwy 19 that is planned for 2022.
The section of the Hwy 19 project is from Hwy 20 to Almond Street. The project includes repaving, improvements of the intersection of Hwy 19 and Hwy 20 and sidewalk work to improve mobility for people and meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Representatives of MnDOT and others will be available to answer questions and provide information from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Common Space of Cannon Falls Elementary School, 1020 East Minnesota Street, Cannon Falls, MN 55009.
During the session, MnDOT will discuss the plan for 2022. People may drop by at any time during the session. Maps and information will be available for review. People may also sign up for email updates.
Stakeholders who might be directly affected by the project are invited to presentations that will highlight details. Presentations will be at the Common Space of Cannon Falls Elementary School on Feb. 5 prior to the public open house. Businesses near where the intersection improvements will take place are encouraged to attend a meeting from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Residents / property owners that might be affected by the sidewalk improvements are encouraged to attend a presentation from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Letters were sent to stakeholders regarding the presentations. For those who are directly affected by the project and didn't receive a letter, they should contact Cindy Morgan (cindy.morgan@state.mn.us / 507-951-6593) and she will add them to the contact list.
