Rep. Jeremy Munson (R-Lake Crystal) is glad the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) is now allowing parents to attend their children’s games.
“As a father who was prevented from attending my daughter’s volleyball games, I found the MSHSL’s previous policy incredibly frustrating,” Munson said in a post on the Minnesota House of Representatives website. “Sporting events are about supporting each other and sharing community. In times such as these, we should not be depriving families of the ability to cheer each other on. As such, I am so proud of the parents who stood up to the MSHSL and won.”
The Minnesota GOP website states that while spectators were barred from attending sports events under the previous policy the new one allows for two spectators per participant.
“The fact that the MSHSL ever deprived parents of the right to support their children is wrong,” Munson said in the post. “Bureaucracies routinely think they know how to run the lives of others. Instead, the people know what is best for them and their families. In this case, the people stood up, voiced their opinion and change occurred.”
