Democratic candidate Jessica Hanson has won the District 56A House seat, defeating Republican Pam Myhra.

Posting on Facebook, Hanson vowed to be a listening leader.

“As I embark on the next leg of this journey as your State Representative, I promise to continue this momentum and carry it with me all the way to St Paul.

“I will continue to listen to you and amplify your voices in the Capitol building. To be elected to represent you all is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I am beyond honoured to have the opportunity to go to work every day for you and our community,” she wrote.

She also urged the people to coexist in unity and love.

“Caring for each other is the Minnesota way. When one of us gets stuck in the snow or is laid up from a slip on the ice, another one of us steps up to be there for them. We share hot dishes, we come together to enjoy our beautiful lakes and rivers, and we come together to share in our successes, sorrows, and trials,” she added.
