Federal authorities have conducted raids at several locations in Minnesota as part of an investigation into suspected fraud within the state’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program. The investigation centers on allegations that some providers billed the state for services not actually delivered, resulting in millions of dollars in improper claims over recent years.

Court documents reveal that spending on the HSS program grew significantly from approximately $2.6 million in 2020 to more than $104 million by 2024, with cumulative payouts exceeding $302 million through early 2025.

Representative Terry Stier (R-Belle Plaine) issued a statement addressing the situation:

"Representative Stier emphasized his continued support for reforms that protect taxpayer dollars, enhance transparency, and ensure state programs are delivering on their promises."

The investigation is ongoing and further details may be released as federal authorities continue their work.
