State Representative Keith Allen recently met with Dr. Edward Inch, President of Minnesota State University, Mankato, to discuss the significance of civil discourse and free expression in higher education.

During their meeting, Rep. Allen praised President Inch for his leadership and dedication to creating an academic setting where students are able to share ideas openly and respectfully.

“I appreciate President Inch taking the time to meet and discuss the importance of open dialogue on campus,” Rep. Allen said. “Ensuring that students can learn and express their views without fear of reprisal from professors that hold different opinions is vital to the mission of higher education. I am encouraged by his commitment to fostering a culture that values civil discourse and academic freedom.”

Rep. Allen also stated that both he and President Inch are committed to making MSU Mankato a place where thoughtful debate and mutual respect are integral parts of daily learning.

“It is encouraging to see MSU Mankato taking this responsibility seriously,” Rep. Allen said. “When students can engage in meaningful conversations, even on difficult topics, the entire academic community benefits. This is a cornerstone of education.”

He concluded by thanking President Inch for his continued leadership and expressed interest in ongoing collaboration to keep Minnesota’s higher education institutions safe, inclusive, and receptive to all viewpoints.
