Any current vacancies are listed below. Interested, qualified individuals who wish to be considered for appointment must fill out the committee application form at the bottom of this page. DEADLINES TO APPLY FOR OPENINGS ARE LISTED BELOW. 

Board of Adjustment: 

Effective December 31, 2022, there are two vacancies to fill. This board is comprised of three regular members and one alternate who are appointed by the Meeker County Board of Commissioners. Members serve three-year terms with limit of five consecutive terms. The most common function of this board is the consideration of requests for variances. However, it also acts upon interpretations of zoning maps, Flood Plain boundaries, and any appeals from decisions made by zoning staff. The Board of Adjustment meets monthly on a Tuesday evening in Litchfield at the Courthouse. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 5, 2022. 

MN Extension Service Committee: 

Effective December 31, 2022, there are two vacancies to fill. Members of this committee are charged with the following responsibilities: work with regional Extension director to identify local citizens' needs and match needs to programming; determine where there is a need for more intense local educational efforts; hire local Extension education staff and review staff work plans; provide oversight to local Extension office budget; assist in marketing Extension programs throughout the county. The committee meets the third Tuesday of every other month at 1 p.m. in Litchfield. Members serve three-year terms with limit of two consecutive terms. Ideally, candidates would be from either Commissioner Districts 2 or 4. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 5, 2022.  Pioneer land Library Board: Effective December 31, 2022, there is one vacancy to fill. This board is comprised of 35 members appointed by member cities and counties. Board members include city and county officials as well as library patrons. Responsibilities include approving budgets and setting policies. The board meets on Thursdays, on or after the 10th of each month. Members serve three-year terms with limit of three full consecutive terms. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 5, 2022.  

Planning Commission: 

Effective December 31, 2022, there are three vacancies to fill. The Meeker County Planning Commission is a seven-member board who are appointed by the Meeker County Board of Commissioners. Members serve three-year terms with limit of five consecutive terms. The Planning Commission typically meets monthly on the third Tuesday of every month in Litchfield at the Courthouse. Duties include: initiate, review, hold public hearings and make findings and recommendations to the County Board on applications for conditional use permits, interim use permits, amendments and rezoning; cooperate with the Land Use Director, County Board, planning consultants and other specialists in preparing and recommending to the County Board for adoption, a Comprehensive County Land Use Plan and recommendations for plan implementation in the form of official control and other measures; review any comprehensive plan or official control and any plans for public land acquisition and development sent to the County for that purpose by any local unit of government or any state or federal agency and report findings and recommendations to the County Board. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 5, 2022. 

 Public Health Advisory Committee:

 Effective December 31, 2022, there are two vacancies to fill. This committee provides advice to the planning, implementation, evaluation and ongoing management of Public Health programs. The committee is comprised of community representatives from various community sectors including health care, education, the business community, and the community at large. Members provide information and insight to the department director on health-related issues, alternate approaches to programs and services, and monitors financial performance. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday, every other month (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, and Nov) at 8 a.m. in Litchfield. Members serve 2-year terms with no term limits. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 5, 2022.
