City of Elysian issued the following announcement on Feb. 18.
Welcome to a new decade in Elysian. My first year as Mayor has been a learning experience and one heck of a ride. I wouldn’t change places with anyone. We have the best City and staff around. I would put any of them up against any City. From our City Administrator, Clerk, Public Works, Part Timers and our Seasonal Hires, pride in their work shows when you come into town. The year of 2019 brought 9 new homes, 2 new townhomes, and 3 new businesses. Additionally, our Park Board worked collectively to set up Sunset Park to the west of town, behind the Elysian Area Learning Center. Our American Legion Post 311 put together a paver drive to start and complete our Veterans Memorial. When visiting Elysian, I hope you take the time to visit our Memorial and pay respects to those who have come before us all, and those who are still serving. Additionally, we remodeled and opened a new restroom/concession stand at Lake Francis Park to be used for fundraisers, birthdays, or whatever it is needed for. Our Economic Development Authority developed and recognized Business Spotlights. Some of the past recipients include The Knotty Bar and Grill, Pit Stop and Mama’s Mercantile. Additionally, they provided a means for the Fitness Center to remodel and revitalize their operation. And of course, we still have our Fishing Contest at Lake Francis on Super Bowl Sunday, 4th of July Celebration, and Holidazzle Parade to name a few. I encourage all of you to take the time and visit Elysian. Have lunch at one of our Bar and Grills, talk with the friendliest people around. You’ll come back for more. It is a pleasure and honor to serve our citizens in this wonderful city.
