CITY OF FARIBAULT: Get Creative: Sew Masks And Drop Off At The Fire Department

Masksew

City of Faribault issued the following announcement on April 24.

Governor Tim Walz is calling on all Minnesotans to get creative and begin sewing homemade masks to help those working or living in congregate care facilities.

Once the masks are made, they can be dropped off on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at the Faribault Fire Station, located at 122 NW Second St., Faribault, MN 55021. A bin for donated masks will be found inside the front vestibule of the fire station, and a second bin will be located outside on the north side of the building.

Find here a set of plans for homemade masks, along with additional information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

According to Walz, these homemade masks don’t replace PPE, but they do help limit the spread of the virus.
