CITY OF ELYSIAN: 14-day COVID-19 Case Rate by County Has Been Updated To Reflect Time Period of 8/9-8/22

Update

City of Elysian issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

Le Sueur County’s most current case rate is 36.81. This information is used as a tool to help schools make data driven decisions about their safe learning model. This is not an exclusive indicator for which model a school must implement, as there are many factors to take into consideration when determining an appropriate learning model. The Departments of Education and Health will work with school districts and local health professionals throughout the school year to help districts decide if and when they need to shift between models. This being said, the school district is responsible to make the final decision – not local public health. Schools are looking not only at the threshold level, but also at multiple other factors when making these decisions - including viral spread in their city (see graphs) and the health of their school community.

As schools begin to reopen, please be patient with our school leaders and health professionals. We are in a pandemic. The data is ever evolving and changing. Schools are working hard to make the best decisions to protect the health and safety of our students and educators. These decisions are not easy and not concrete. Expect change. We are in this for the long haul. We all need to do our part to ensure school doors can remain open – this includes wearing a facemask, social distancing, frequent hand washing, and staying home when sick.

Unfortunately, Le Sueur County has seen a large surge in recent cases. This directly affects school threshold levels.

The total population used for Le Sueur County’s calculation is 28,494.

This data will be updated and posted weekly, on Thursdays.
